Cupcakes and Shelves

As promised, here is a blog post about some delish cupcakes I made and a shelf I fixed up. Let me tell you about these cupcakes, they are amazing. I am by no means on the cupcake bandwagon and have in fact always liked cupcakes or anything to do with cake (as long as it is homemade). I make my fair share of all sorts of sweets and I have been craving chocolate-peanut butter cupcakes all week. I saw a recipe on pinterest and nothing could stop me from a making them. The actual cake is very chocolately, there is a mini Reece's in the middle and the peanut butter frosting is heavenly.

I am a terrible froster and I probably need some better frosting tools (these are plastic and from Kroger, I think) and I don't have a fancy camera to make my pictures look awesome. The reason there is only one cupcake in this picture is because it is the nicest looking one out of the 12 cupcakes and Tyler showed me how to hold the pastry bag a better way. Yes, my husband is so much better at crafts and decorating cakes and cookies---but I am a pretty decent cook/baker, if I do say so myself.

You can get the recipe here.

Question: How does everyone with a blog seem to have a really nice camera? Cameras are so expensive. The only reason we even have one at all is because we got it for our wedding and we are so thankful we have it. If anyone felt like getting me a gift and felt like spending say.... $500 on me you could get me this camera.

Remember how I said I fixed a shelf up? I did and I did so all by myself. No help from Tyler!

Tyler found this at a Savers (like a Goodwill) for $3.99. I thought the Noah's Ark animals, etc. were pretty ugly ( it was mostly that the paint job was pretty old and not that well done), but is was pretty nice wood and Elanor's room needed a shelf.

First, I sanded it down a bit, not a lot because I am slightly lazy about those sort of things. Then, I stained it with some left over stain from Elanor's cradle. after which I painted the ark and all the animals the same pale green as Elanor's room.

I think it turned out pretty classy. We just need to get it up on the wall! Fortunately for me, this is the sort of craft I am decent at, painting. I enjoy painting and this was pretty easy and only cost us $3.99 because we had everything else on hand.

So, all in all, I'm feeling pretty housewife-y with these two things done.
