New Year, new blog

I have been wanting to change this blog for over a year now. I suppose I have felt rather bored with it and it needed some sort of direction. I have been thinking and looking at several other blogs and decided that not very many people write from my perspective in life. So many "mom" blogs are about their families, house, crafting, etc. They all already have their house, their husbands have "real" jobs, all their children are born and they seem financially stable. What about people like me? We have one little babe, just graduated from college and my husband is getting ready to go back for more, I'm at home with said baby and waiting for the day when I can fulfill my dream of having a beautiful old house filled with children. Right now, we are barely scraping along, but we are oh, so happy!

I plan on writing about parenting, being a wife, cooking/baking, cleaning, crafting (from the perspective of a very un-crafty person, with a rather crafty husband) and I will still write some family posts. Basically, I want to write about what it is like to be a young, poor stay-at-home mom and wife. I want to focus on the positive and make my home (wherever it is) a beautiful place.

If you were wondering about the new blog title, I got it from the song ,"I Got Plenty O' Nuttin' " written by George Gershwin.  The lyrics are:
I got plenty of nothing
And nothing's plenty for me
I got no car - got no mule
I got no misery

Folks with plenty of plenty
They've got a lock on the door
Afraid somebody's gonna rob 'em
While there out (a) making more - what for

I got no lock on the door - that's no way to be
They can steal the rug from the floor - that's OK with me
'Cause the things that I prize - like the stars in the skies - are all free

I got plenty of nothing
And nothing's plenty for me
I got my gal - got my song
(I) Got heaven the whole day long
- Got my gal - got my love - got my song

I thought it was pretty true to my life. I love this version sung by Ella Fitzgerald and Louis Armstrong.

So, things will be changing around here and I plan on blogging more frequently as well. Get excited. Well, you don't have to, but I am.

  2. Yes, I did! Thank you! I found this tutorial online though and did it on Picasa. I am pretty pleased with how it turned out.
